Dr. Josef K. Yeager is a board-certified dermatologist who has been practicing dermatology in Maryland since 1990. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina, in Columbia, and his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his internship at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

Dr. Yeager served in the U.S. Navy, where he trained as an aviation medical officer; later he completed his residency in Dermatology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and became a member of the teaching staff there. Besides treating patients he contributed to resident education and published over 50 articles of research studies and case reports. He was the principal investigator on two research projects that were sponsored by the National Institutes of Health; he taught as an Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, and he was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Dermatology at Georgetown University. He also enjoyed serving as the Dermatology Consultant to the United States Congress. In addition, he was a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and a member of the International Society of Dermatology, the Washington, D.C. Dermatological Society, and the American Medical Association. He has been chosen as one of the “Top Doctors” in the Washingtonian Magazine.

Caroline was born at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, and she grew up in Bethesda. She spent grades three to twelve at the Holton-Arms School, where she graduated as ranking scholar (valedictorian) and as a National Merit Scholar. She then attended Princeton University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude; she majored in Classics with a Certificate in Medieval Studies. At Princeton University she received the Shapiro Prize for Academic excellence and the Classics Department’ s Atkins Prize for best senior thesis. She is a member of Princeton University’s Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

Caroline attended Duke Medical School in Durham, North Carolina. She was the recipient of a Howard Hughes Medical Institute NIH Research Scholarship, which brought her back to Bethesda to do research at the National Human Genome Research Institute at NIH. She continued to do research on chemotherapy- induced hair loss when she returned to Duke. She received her medical degree in 2011; during her time there she was awarded membership into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honorary society for her outstanding scholarship as well as leadership. In addition, Duke University Hospital awarded Caroline the “Strength, Hope and Caring” Award for her dedication to compassionate patient care; it had never before been awarded to a medical student instead of a resident doctor or nurse.

Dr. Caroline Yeager came back to the D.C. area to do her internship at the George Washington University Hospital, where she received the Internal Medicine Preliminary Intern of the Year award and the George Washington University Hospital Service Excellence Pillar Award.

Caroline completed her training at Emory Medical School for her Dermatology Residency, from where she graduated in June, 2015. During her third year of residency she served as the Curriculum Chief Resident for Emory University Dermatology Residency. Caroline has completed the National Board Examinations in Dermatology, and she is now a Board-Certified Dermatologist.

Dr. Sanders H. Berk is a board-certified dermatologist who has been practicing dermatology for 40 years. He received his Medical degree from the University of Maryland, with honors. He completed his internship and dermatology training at the University of Miami, under Dr. Harvey Blank. Dr. Berk is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He has been selected as one of the “Top Doctors” in the Washingtonian Magazine.

Dr. Berk has published articles in the New England Journal of Medicine and the Archives of Dermatology. In addition to his busy office schedule, he is an assistant Clinical Professor at the George Washington University.

Dr. Berk served in the U.S. Navy for two years, during the Vietnam War era. He is a devoted family man who enjoys outdoor activities: cycling, kayaking and fishing.

John J. DiGiovanna, M.D., F.A.A.D.

Dr. John DiGiovanna received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and his medical degree is from the State University of New York Upstate Medical Center. He did residency training in Dermatology at the University of Miami and he is Certified by the American Board of Dermatology.

In addition to the practice of dermatology, Dr. DiGiovanna is currently Senior Research Physician at the National Cancer Institute, NIH, where his research involves inherited skin disorders, particularly those causing skin cancer. He has served as a consultant to several Divisions of the Federal Drug Administration over three decades. In addition he was previously the Director of Dermatopharmacology and Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School, where he was investigator on over 70 clinical trials. He has co-authored over 200 scientific articles and book chapters, and he has lectured widely at national and international conferences.
